Comparing population…

There are more people in the world today than ever before. And that doesn’t mean third world countries that don’t have easy access and extra money for birth control. Everyone is contributing to this population boom. People have moved, causing some areas to see a decrease in population, and other areas to be over crowded with construction still a viable business.

This infographic creatively compares the population of the 2006 US and the current US. By using (not politically affiliated) blue and red, each county shows whether it increased, decreased, or remained the same in population. And the fun part is that you can move the dividing line back and forth , allowing you to see the same map.

This infographic is great to show students where people have moved, but not why. Using resources on the economy, climate, and other ideas, have your students come up with various hypotheses on why certain areas have increased in population, and others haven’t.
