Here is one of those visualizations that include the old graphic styles of paper and colored pencil and also some of the greatest benefits of digital networked content.

The Clear Congress Project [clearcongressproject.com] by Thomas Gibes is a real-time visualization of US Congress data made available through the Sunlight Labs’ Real Time Congress API, Google News, Twitter, and other data sources. The aim of the project is to serve as a possible model for facilitating governmental transparency beyond simple data access by proposing a new format for polical news distribution.
A government or civics class might be asked to use this visualization to identify the movers and shakers of the U.S. Congress and explain why.  They might also agree, through conversation, on characteristics of a successful elected representative to federal government.
