Gender Composition of Academic Disciplines: PhDs in 2009

In this time of graduations and degrees awarded and many of the prevailing demographic shifts we are witnessing, it is interesting to note the percentage of those degrees and their disciplines earned by women.

From The Society Pages blog entry..

From Abi, Kieran Healy, and the Survey of Earned Doctorates: 2009 data on the gender divide among doctorate-level graduates in academic disciplines (from most to least female by percentage).

For instance, it is not too surprising to see the dominance of women in education fields with reading and elementary eduction at the top and engineering at the bottom. Still it is interesting to look more closely to see what specific fields still have women earning at least half and more than half of the graduate degrees.
