Hawaii is one of the most fossil fuel-dependent States in the nation, but the Hawaiian Clean Energy Initiative is looking to change that. Launched in 2008, the initiative is a partnership between the State, the U.S. Department of Energy, and Hawaiian Electric Company that aims to increase energy efficiency and generate more power locally.
