Goodbye to Drama

This infographic, from Very Small Array, who analyzes movie industry data, shows a timeline, so to speak, of the prominance of film genres since 1926. Getting the data from yearly top grossing films and Best Picture Acaqdemy Award Nominees, both listed in Wikipedia, and Movie genres list at allmovie.com, the graph show the relative spreads by genre.

What’s interesting is that there is a comparison made between movies that were Top Grossing and those that were nominated for Oscars. I wonder how this my be fodder for discussions among students.  Might a class create a similar infographic based on the movies that they’ve watched, liked, and have paid money to see?  What do you think?
