131 – US States Renamed For Countries With Similar GDPs | Strange Maps | Big Think

Most American students, or those who have spent a great deal of time in the country, know something about most other states. They at least know something about the region and can make inferences. Begin teaching this infographic by making inferences about each states GDP (consumption, investments, government spending, and exports-imports). Survey the class and correct misconceptions.

In this map, each state has been renamed based on GDP. It is a great way to teach students what other countries have to offer. It also teaches the students the need for America and Europe to stick together in order to succeed.

In the end, try to teach the students something about each country. In World History, refer back to it when the history of a country comes up. In politics, bring it up when you are studying the politics of a specific state. And use it in American history when studying the Civil War and the joining of all the states to the union.
